Penis Size and Enlargement Methods – What Works and What Doesn’t
How big is big enough?
Are you worried about how you measure up?
It’s a common question. In fact, as many as two-thirds of all men are concerned about the size of their penis, according to one study that involved 200 men.
If you’re wondering about penis size, you may be interested to know that the average is just over five inches when erect, according to a study conducted in 2015. Almost all men’s penises are within an inch of this average length. And despite what you may have seen online, penises longer than 8 inches are pretty rare. As for girth (the distance around, or the circumference), the average is a little less than 5 inches when erect.
Does penis length matter?
Generally, size may matter less than you think. In another study, 85% of women said they were “very satisfied” with the size of their partner’s penis. It’s important to remember that your penis size does not reflect your virility or, in nearly every case, your ability to satisfy your partner or yourself.
Enlargement methods: What You Need To Know
With all of these studies and statistics, there’s another that’s worth mentioning: In one U.S. study, 45% of the men surveyed said they wished their penis was larger.
If this describes you, you may be wondering how to make it happen: Is there a pill, a surgical procedure or a device that works? It’s the most common questions I get on my website when men request a consultation: “Is there a way to increase penis size?”
The short answer is no.
However, there are a few things to consider. One is that, if you lose weight, especially if you’re obese, your penis will look bigger in relation to the rest of your body. And if you’re overweight to the point that you can’t see your penis, then losing weight will certainly make your penis look bigger.
As for surgery, there’s a procedure that involves cutting the suspensory ligament, which holds the penis close to the pubic bone and supports it when erect. But this doesn’t increase penis size. It just makes the penis hang longer — and also point straight down when engorged. Another surgery involves transplanting fat from the buttocks into the penis. This can increase thickness, but it can also cause a lumpy, unnatural appearance.
If you’re considering a penis pump, these work by creating a vacuum that draws blood into the penis. Any size increases from this are minor and temporary.
Improving quality of sex and erections
Before you give up, keep in mind that there are several things you can do to the make the most of your natural assets. Basically, the more blood that goes to your penis during an erection, the larger it gets.
Here are a few ways to maximize blood flow to your penis:
- Quit smoking, if you smoke. Smoking narrows the arteries, which cuts down on blood flow.
- Exercise regularly to improve the health of your arteries.
- Eat more fruits and vegetables and less meat and cheese. This can lower your cholesterol, which helps keep your arteries open.
- Relaxation, such as from meditation, can prevent constriction of the muscle tissue that surrounds the arteries that lead the penis. (Erection drugs work by relaxing these muscles.)
- Take a hot shower. Warmth can increase blood flow, which makes your penis larger.
One final thing to consider is that there are many things that go into making a man a great lover. Intercourse is just one part of sex. Paying more attention to your partner’s satisfaction and less attention to your penis can go a long way in improving your sex life and your relationship with your partner.
